The challenge
A financial technology provider wanted to move critical platforms from an on-premises environment to AWS, and needed more than a straight copy. The existing architecture had performance bottlenecks, resilience gaps and availability risks that a simple lift-and-shift would only carry into the cloud.
What we did
MonTek's founder served as AWS application-development architect, working alongside AWS Professional Services engineers and solutions architects.
- Assessed the existing architecture and designed AWS-native migration strategies rather than a lift-and-shift.
- Analyzed bottlenecks and risks in depth across performance, resiliency and availability, and produced proofs of concept to validate the proposed solutions.
- Designed and deployed S3 multi-master replication with Terraform, building the replication topology as repeatable infrastructure as code.
- Migrated services to AWS ECS, Lambda, CloudFormation and Kinesis for scalability, event-driven processing and long-term resilience.
- Joined architecture reviews and strategy sessions with AWS solutions architects to support compliance, optimization and future-proofing.
Results
- Greater system resilience and fewer performance bottlenecks.
- Improved availability for critical platforms.
- The confidence to adopt AWS-native services across the platform.
